I think its going to be very close this season between forwards.

We all know that Henry & Rooney eat points for breakfast on their day.  You may say well they haven't realy done so thus far but the season is long my friend & they will score points.... lots of points.

Then there are the highly rated new strikers who are un-proven in the premiership: Shevchenko, Kuyt, Tevez, McCarthy, Martins, Berbatrov.
Of these I believe the first three will be big hits.  Kuyt has near enough made crouch's place his with his speed, strength, passion & determination.  Tevez has so much natual ability that sooner or later pardew will have to drop Harewood or Zamora (with ashton injured).  Shevchenko.... what can I san? He is so dangerous in the box, left foot, right foot, head, it doesn't matter with the servive he will get from Robben, Cole, Lampard & Ballack. Expect alot from the Ukranian.
The latter three (McCarthy, Martins & Berbatrov), these will be the guys bringing in double figure points on some weeks and equally getting you nothing for weeks.

Then there are your players who are not overly expensive and will guarentee to pay dividends with points: Bent, Keane, Yakubu, Johnson, Saha, Van Persie, Viduka, Samaras just to name a few.

You have to remember with this game that form is tempory while class is permanent.  You have to ensure you have a few top names who will slug points in all season but you must take some risks to catch up on the leaders.............

For example; Imagine you picked Donkey James in goal with a pompy back 4 to start the season..... Where would you be now? 1st

Hansen is usually a shrewd guide - seems to think there are enough decent strikers around the 5-6m mark, and surprise surprse he's spent big 'at the back'
You can see his team on the TPL site.
Not that he's picked the right ones so far...obviously its been a hot start for Johnson/Saha/Zamora etc and unlikely that they'll all dry up?

Prob is with picking Shev/Roo or esp Terry Henry that you have to compromise elsewhere, and surely Pompey defenders cant keep it up....can they?!

I've used 2 trfs so far, AJ in, then Kuyt for him cos Liv had 2 home games before Eve next play; so far so good with goal and MoM last nt, 10pts.  Smiley

Had 190pts after weds, 2000thish - hows abt rest of you?Huh??

Avoid Liveppool players whenever they have an away game!

AJ back in my team, for good this time, and the axe is hovering over Stevie G!

According to TPL website, I was in 41st place out of the 12k+ chairman last week... fame!!

thanks taxi, 300pts now, up to 21st in Chairmans lge and 361st overall, although leader miles clear!

Am thinking it's time for Henry but it'd cost me 3 trfs to raise the cash and one of Gerrard or Terry would have to go.
Have only used 4 so far and it's now or never with Gooners home to Watford this sat.

Whaddaya reckon people?

I dont reckon Henry yet. Yes they are playing Watford but its only one game. He will probably score but just not convinced his goal scoring. Dont think he has settled yet either being at a new ground or back from World Cup.

Gerrard - ive got him and thinking about taking him out. Last season he was quiet in the beginning and then went mad. Im just waiting for the guy to explode but he is losing me points while he isnt.

Strikers ive got Rooney, Young and King. Hope that Young & King combine forces and kick Arsenals ar*e!!

Henry

I'd put him in.  He may of had a slow start to the season but he's starting to turn the engines on now.  He also scored for France last night and international goals always boost your confidence.  + look at Arsenal's next 3 fixtures: Watford, Reading & West Ham..... 8 out of these 12 defenders + 2 keepers have never faced Henry b4............ Nappy change!

Stevie G

He has not been on fire this year and there is no sign of a dramatic improvement.  You could save quite a bit of bob from Axing this scouser. However Sod's law states that should you drop the best midfielder in England from your sqaud, he will go and score 2 goals and pick up MOTM award the following week.

Terry

Solid as a rock...... "surposidely".  If you saw Da Silva's goal last night I wonder if you noticed what J T was up too?..........  ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.  I am not criticising him though because he has been so solid 4 club and country for such a long time.  HE IS THE BEST CENTER BACK IN THE WORLD.....FACT!
But at a cost of £5m it does eat a big chunk out of your budget.  Surely if Chelsea don't conceed and all 4 defenders play the whole match they will all score near enough the same amount of points?
Carvalho is £1m cheaper then Terry has played just as many games and is always a 1st choice. He also is only 1 point behind Terry............ Get my drift???

PS Money, Rooney is out of form and Young & King will soon loose their confidence when they see that they are bottem at xmas...... and thats coming from a nuetral.

Rooney is out of form at the moment but he is on his way back. See him in the Champions league last night and also against Wigan at the Weekend. He is soon to explode and when he does, he will pick up some good points!

Young & King - interesting. Will have to keep a watch on them. Though I think Young is more likely to stay on top than King. Quite a few Premierships are watching him and quoting him as the "Next Ronaldo". That I dont know about but definitely going to keep an eye on him

Ok questions - Saha or johnson?

Both...unless you already have Henry!

I decided against him (see last weeks messages) and missed out on another 10pts, il est prolifique!!

Stevie G's place is under threat from Cahill,  leaving NO Liverpool players in my team, and I'm a staunch Red!

Or, Campo to save a few quid, then Henry for AJ or Saha.

conclusion...don't know which!!!

Top Bananas 335pts 461st place

Your doing very well jc and someone on here's got 2.  I see you didn't take notice of my advice on my previous post.  Cry

Cutting Saha or Johnson? That is a tough one.  I think with C Ronaldo coming back from injury Solsjkar will loose his starting place.  This means Saha will remain a 1st choice 4 sir Alex and will continue scoring, but at what rate?

Equally Johnson has recovered and we know he is Everton's 1st choice.  I must say my personel opionion is that Everton as a team are going to loose their momentum, although AJ may still grab points even if they loose.

Fortunately, supporting a club not in the premiership (Colchester United) ensures that I have an un-bias selection of players.  This means I won't be picking my favourite player from my club and disgarding players from a derby team who rake the points in.  Does N e 1 here find that they choose players from their own clubs knowing that players from other clubs will score more points?

P.s. Does n e know how long Ashley Cole is out 4 because the physioroom arn't saying?
